Where’s The Tin Man?

I guess that bum got rained on and is all rusted up somewhere, because unfortunately he didn’t show up today.  Hopefully I can find him so he can hear the beats that go bump again… after all, he doesn’t have a heart so he needs to feel those raw beats to know he’s still alive.

The Tin Man is close though… definite sign he’s been through these parts…

Anyways, what’s been keeping my head nodding this week has got to be WUGAZI.  Wu-Tang and Fugazi, what more could you want?  90’s back in full effect…  Be sure to check out the rest of the 13 chambers over at WUGAZI.com brought to you by one of the founding members of Doomtree, Cecil Otter, and Swiss Andy.

My favorite track of the album… “Sleep Rules Everything Around Me,” which has been the theme for my life over the past few months…

Another mix that took me to a far away land, outside of any resemblance to an office, was the Barbes Chicha mix for the Roots of Chicha 2xLP that can be found over at Fat Beats.

Then onto the videos…

First up we’ve got another dope offering from the Beastie Boys.  This time around they’re teamed up with Spike Jonze for a hilarious video for “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” with Santigold.  If you were a fan of their previous 30min epic don’t hesitate to check out more of the continuingly ill adventures of the Beastie Boys… this time with action figures.

Then, one of my favorites in a looonnnng time has got to be the tripped out Sergio Leone feel to the afro-beat funktastic stylings from the one and only Budos Band…

So when you get a fist full of dollars, don’t sleep, and pick up the dangerously venomous Budos Band III.

Also, I don’t know why, but this reminded me of our first throw back jam of the day with “Go With The Flow” from Queens Of The Stone Age…

Which is cool because Dave Grohl was the drummer for that album, Songs For The Deaf, and we also know him from the seminal band, Nirvana.  Guess what? Coming up is the 20th anniversary to one of my all time favorite albums, Nirvana’s Nevermind.  This was the first cassette tape I ever owned, and I wore that thing out.  Needless to say, my fragile little mind, and the face of music was changed forever… yeah yeah yeah… just be sure to check out a nice tribute album over at SPIN, complete with covers from the Meat Puppets and the Vaselines… and a meeaaann version of “Stay Away” by Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band?!  Now here’s another rad video to rock out to… in dresses.
